Intelligent personal assistants (IPA), such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, are becoming increasingly present in multi-user households leading to questions about privacy consent, particularly for those who do not directly own the device they interact with. When these devices placed shared spaces, every visitor cohabitant becomes an indirect user, potentially discomfort, misuse of services, or unintentional sharing data. To better understand how owners visitors perceive IPAs, we interviewed 10 in-house users (account cohabitants) 9 from a student young professionals sample have interacted with on various occasions. We find that cohabitants regular IPA interactions see themselves device, although having same controls account owner. Further, determine existence smart speaker etiquette which doubles trust-based boundary management. Both demonstrate similar attitudes concerns around data use, constant monitoring by lack transparency operations. discuss interviewees' system understanding, concerns, protection strategies make recommendation avoid tensions devices.
